A Letter to the Green Future (2050)
Dear Green Future,
Hello! My name is My Duyen. I am a student in Xa Phien 1 primary school. I live in Can Tho province, and today is the year 2025. I am still small, but I have many dreams for our Earth. I want to write to the year 2050, because I wonder what the world will look like when I grow up.
Today, I see many things that make me happy, but I also see things that make me sad. I am happy when I see trees, flowers, birds, and butterflies. I am happy when I hear the sound of the wind, the song of the rain, and the laughter of children playing outside. But I also see plastic bags in the river, smoke in the sky, and trash on the street. Sometimes the air feels heavy, and the water looks dirty. This makes me worry about the future.
I imagine the year 2050 as a green and beautiful place. I hope that the air is fresh and clean. I hope that the sky is always blue, with white clouds and bright sunshine. I hope the rivers are clear, so we can see fish swimming happily. I hope the forests are big and full of tall trees, singing birds, and animals living safely. I hope that in 2050, there are no more endangered animals, because people will protect them with love and care.
In school, my teachers tell me about the importance of protecting the Earth. They say we must not throw trash on the ground, we must save water, and we must use electricity carefully. I also learn that planting trees can give us fresh air and shade. Every time I plant a small tree, I imagine it growing into a big tree in the future, giving fruit, flowers, and a home for birds.
I know that in 2050, I will be an adult. Maybe I will have children of my own. I hope my children can run and play in a safe world. I want them to see dolphins in the ocean, tigers in the forest, and colorful butterflies in the garden. I do not want them to live in a place where the air is full of smoke and the rivers are full of plastic.
Dear future people in 2050, please remember that the Earth is our only home. We cannot buy another planet. We must take care of this one with all our heart. Please continue to plant trees, recycle, and use clean energy. Please be kind to animals and respect nature. Please teach children to love the Earth, because children are the future.
I promise, from today, I will do small things to help. I will not waste water. I will turn off the lights when I do not need them. I will not throw trash on the ground. I will tell my friends to care for the Earth too. Even small actions can make a big change, if everyone works together.
When you read this letter in 2050, I hope you will smile. I hope you will say, “Yes, we made the world green and happy.” That is my biggest dream.
With love and hope,
My Duyen
