The Earth is our common home, but it faces pollution, waste, and the destruction of nature. I created this painting to remind people of their responsibility to protect our planet.
The painting is divided into two contrasting sections. One side shows a polluted environment filled with rubbish, warm colors, and lifeless landscapes. The other features a blue sky, bright sunshine, lush trees, and a lively city. This contrast represents two possible futures: a damaged planet or a green, clean, and livable world.
Between these sides is a “golden” boundary, which I specially painted yellow. It represents the thin, fragile line between a green planet and a dead one. I hope everyone will work hard to cross this boundary and create a green, clean, and beautiful Earth.
At the center of the painting, a pair of hands embracing the Earth symbolizes the message of the Green Future Fund 2050. One hand has fair skin because it belongs to someone who works in a factory and has little exposure to sunlight. However, wounds caused by conflicts over resources and territories reveal humanity’s cruelty when the “golden” boundary is crossed. The other hand has darker skin because it belongs to someone who often plants trees, collects rubbish, and protects the environment. This darker skin is something to be proud of.
Through this artwork, I want to encourage everyone to reduce plastic waste, sort and recycle rubbish, save resources, plant trees, and protect the environment. I hope that by 2050, the Earth will become a green home where humans and other living creatures live in harmony. I hope people in Vietnam and around the world will join hands to protect our planet.
